Evaluation

I began my ARP with a different focus, and only realised I wanted to change the focus to the use of Miro in the Classroom several weeks in. This meant I ‘wasted’ some of my reading time on other subjects and doing lots of deliberating, and only came into planning quite late, and leaving less time. I… Continue reading Evaluation

Peer Conversations

Earlier on in the Autumn Term I emailed Kira Salter, and managed to get some time with her in early December for a research interview. It fell after my Action had taken place, but nonetheless it was great to be able to connect with her.  I was struck by how she has embedded peer led… Continue reading Peer Conversations

Post Event Interviews

I created a purposive sample of students who I observed had different approaches to contributing in class to interview about the talks day. Purposive sampling is one of the sampling techniques used in qualitative research and is defined as the selection of units (individuals, groups, etc.) related to answering research questions based on certain purposes… Continue reading Post Event Interviews

World Café -21.11.24

Students looking at the material

I did a post event write up to record everything I could remember… Morning Session – I got three students involved as helpers, they met me at 9.45 to set up the room in advance of the rest of the group arriving at 10.30. I asked them about seating, and what they thought of the… Continue reading World Café -21.11.24

I would like to experiment with breaking the talks down into sections, in response to my readings on dialogical spaces. Students will devise specific questions that fall within the sections. Briefing the Students Next step… Continue reading Briefing Guests + Students

Post Event Survey

I would like to do a student survey at the end of the talks day. In my last tutorial, Catherine mentioned Mentimeter, so I plan to try that. To design my post event survey, I would like to measure ‘student engagement’.   I did some readings into definitions of ‘engagement’ and used them to inform my… Continue reading Post Event Survey

Dialogical Space

How Can The  Miro Board Be Used To Create Dialogical Space? Aside from the World Cafe talks day, I have been experimenting with Miro for various exercises as part of the Research Brief.  Here is a link to the ‘Cultural Calendar’ Exercise, where students made a collective calendar of events to attend, led by… Continue reading Dialogical Space

Survey Results

I have the results back from the survey which I did as a Microsoft Questionnaire. The survey was completed by 22 out of a total of 48 students, meaning 46% of the class completed the survey. Quantitive Data: I was a little surprised to find that 62% responded that they preferred workshops to talks. Was… Continue reading Survey Results

Drawing from Popular Culture

I have been thinking more about the classroom as a social space, the talks day as an ‘event’. How can the day be framed? How this might affect student expectations? I want to throw up a few refs from youth television /broadcasting spaces, particularly live audience format shows, and events, that have had an impact… Continue reading Drawing from Popular Culture
